Mention the words “eye doctor” to almost anyone in Rockaway, southern Queens or Brooklyn and Dr. Jeffrey Zwerling will immediately come to mind. He has been spearheading what is by far the longest continuously running and most widely trusted ophthalmology practice in the area – a practice started by his former partner in 1951 and taken over by Dr. Zwerling in 1977. The current medical and surgical practice he developed has expanded into the area’s largest and most trusted. This very special medical practice, widely known for truly caring about the well being of its patients, improved and grew rapidly again in 2006 when Drs. Brian and Jonathan joined to form what is now known as Zwerling Ophthalmology.

Dr. Jeffrey, initially trained as an engineer at Cooper Union, graduated magna cum laude with his pre-medical biology requirements from Long Island Universityin Brooklyn. He then attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia where he graduated with honors. He completed his internship and residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident in the final year of his formal training. He continued to train future ophthalmologists after his residency.
Dr. Jeffrey has long been a member of the American Medical Association, the Nassau County Medical Society, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the New York State Ophthalmological Society, and the Long Island Ophthalmogical Society.
Despite his expertise in medical and surgical eye care, Dr. Jeffrey is most proud of the trust the community has placed in him and the practice he created. Along with Drs. Brian and Jonathan, Dr. Jeffrey has made Zwerling Ophthalmology into the area’s premier eye care facility.
